Today I kept Ellen company whilst she was housebound waiting for her new washing machine to be delivered. She was, as she is frequently when I see her, knee deep in knitting. And so we spent a lovely afternoon chatting about crafts, eating peanut butter on toast and watching old episodes of Jonathan Creek.
Watching Ellen knit made me remember these Patricia Roberts images that I had saved from one of my Mum's knitting books. My Mum made the sweater vest in the above picture for my Dad and I have memories of him wearing it proudly to work when we were little.

I think her knitwear designs still appears wonderfully contemporary and the photograph styling is perfect. I love the pale greys, bell sleeves and brown brogues. Ellen has worked feverishly on her knitting for over a year now and so perhaps commissioning a grape patterned waistcoat wouldn't be out of the question....
We also set up a joint Ravelry account as theinkedribbon so we can keep track of our ongoing projects.
